It is not usual to see a new car come online from South America. VW however, has designed and engineered the new NIVUS completely in Brazil. A compact cross-over with a 3-cylinder engine and a starting output of 128HP in a body of 4.2m in length.
And it is, simply put, gorgeous. The Nivus will be officially launched in the Brazilian market in the next few weeks. In Argentina, the model will be in the dealerships at the end of the second half this year. The first semester of 2021 will be the time for the remaining South American markets to receive the Nivus. The model will be also launched in Europe, during next year’s second half.
Full digital cockpit with two 10″ screens, a new steering wheel and a large array of active security features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Fatigue Detector, rear view camera and hill stop assist. The Nivus comes with VW Play. An app marketplace that includes audiobooks, navigation and music apps for the driver.
Dimensions are 4.2 x 1.78 x 1.49 meters, sits 5 and boasts a 415 liter boot that guarantees utility for most needs. A coupe style that may, or may not be, Cayenne Coupe inspired. What we do know is that it is truly gorgeous.
Can’t wait for it to hit our showrooms. Prices are yet to be set. Now, taking into account that the Beetle finally ended production in 2019 in Mexico, this new outlook from VW is an amazing move and a comforting bet on the South American market. We hope it is a hit.
